BoxyLearn ("we", "our", or "us") is a spaced repetition flashcard app. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and your rights over it.

1. Who We Are

BoxyLearn is an independent app developed by Farid Motevallinobar. For any privacy-related questions, contact us at fnobar@gmail.com.

2. Data We Collect

Account data — email address and display name, provided when you sign up or sign in with Apple or Google.
Learning content — decks, notes, flashcards, and tags you create inside the app.
Review activity — review logs (card reviewed, rating given, timestamp) used to calculate your next review schedule.
Device data — notification preferences stored locally on your device. We do not collect device identifiers.

3. How We Use Your Data

To provide and sync your flashcard library across sessions.
To calculate spaced repetition schedules (Leitner and FSRS algorithms).
To authenticate you and secure your account.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties.

4. Legal Basis (GDPR)

We process your data on the basis of contract performance — processing is necessary to provide the service you signed up for. Where we ask for optional information, the basis is your consent.

5. Data Storage and Processors

Your data is stored and processed by Supabase (Supabase Inc.), our backend and authentication provider. Your data is stored on servers in the EU (Ireland). You can review Supabase's privacy practices at supabase.com/privacy.

Authentication via Apple Sign In is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy. Authentication via Google Sign In is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all associated data is permanently deleted from our systems within 30 days.

7. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the EU or EEA, you have the right to:

Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
Erasure — request deletion of your account and all associated data. You can do this directly in the app under More → Delete Account.
Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format.
Objection — object to processing in certain circumstances.
Correction — request correction of inaccurate data.

8. Children

BoxyLearn is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
